MP Attorneys Sound Off
“What makes being a lawyer worthwhile is being a part of something you believe in.” — Robert Martin, Martin Pringle Co-Founder
We are more than just lawyers giving legal advice. Martin Pringle is a family. A culture. A way of life. We are all about the people we serve and the colleagues we work with. These core values are the foundation that Martin Pringle was founded on and we strive to maintain those same values today.
Confidence
My favorite thing about working at Martin Pringle is knowing that the partners here are genuinely interested in ensuring that I become a successful lawyer. From my first day as a law clerk, I’ve been groomed to gain valuable legal experience and trained to develop the skills necessary to be a great attorney. With all of the uncertainty, anxiety and stress associated with being a young lawyer, I always feel confident that I can go to any of the partners with my questions and concerns, and that they will welcome me in their office and give me the proper guidance related to the situation at hand.
“I feel lucky…”
No one tells you in law school that in addition to finding the type of law and clients that you enjoy—the secret to a long, enjoyable, and successful practice is working with people that you truly like and respect. I feel lucky to have found that combination at Martin Pringle. Over the years, the partners at Martin Pringle have had a lasting impact upon their many clients, their employees, and their communities. Being a part of that legacy is something that drives every lawyer at Martin Pringle. This focus on legacy and being responsible and compassionate business owners translates into a group of individuals that truly get along and are constantly striving to make the best decisions possible for the firm. I can’t imagine becoming a partner anywhere else.
The Right Fit
Martin Pringle looks to find a “fit” with our firm’s outstanding culture, yet we also strive to enrich that experience through attracting candidates with different perspectives. We look for candidates with initiative and creativity. Entrepreneurs and community leaders. We offer hands-on involvement from day one. Candidates that show a willingness to be challenged, a commitment to excellence and the ability to collaborate will thrive at Martin Pringle. Because Martin Pringle attorneys are highly encouraged to give back to, participate in, and enjoy the communities in which our offices are located, we also look for candidates who understand and value the importance of a healthy work-life balance. We invest in the members of our firm, and we look for long-term partnerships as a result.
“...the best of both worlds…”
I choose to build my career at Martin Pringle because it offers me the best of both worlds. On one hand, I get to work on complex litigation that challenges me to become a better lawyer. From day one, I was given the opportunity to draft integral pleadings, attend and take depositions, and appear in court. On the other hand, Martin Pringle encourages a work-life balance and does not want to burn out associates with unrealistic expectations. Associates are rightly viewed as the future of the firm, and Martin Pringle does everything in its power to foster a positive work environment for young lawyers.
Advice
Keep an open mind when considering where you might want to spend your summer. Many firms do not hire 1L’s for summer internships, so there are few spots available and a lot of competition. Apply for any job posting in any location you could see yourself working instead of limiting yourself to only a few options. This will hopefully give you a lot of practice with the interview process, which is important to have, and you might find out you have a great fit with a firm that you did not expect. For the interview process itself, remember: lawyers like to talk about themselves, so if you can get them talking they will think your interview went brilliantly!
CONFIDENT is more than just a self-assured term for us.
At Martin Pringle, it’s the straightforward and simplified process by which we approach legal matters.
