How does a native of Sevilla, Spain end up with a career in the law and a life in Kansas? Rafael Alcolea first came to Kansas after being recruited from Spain to play soccer on scholarship at Sterling College in Sterling, Kansas. Rafa ultimately graduated with honors with a degree in clinical/research psychology. An internship in Sterling for a pharmaceutical company unexpectedly led him to consider law school for the first time, after working directly for the company CEO who was also an attorney. Rafa completed his law degree at the Florida State University College of Law where he was an active volunteer for Tallahassee’s Veterans Legal Clinic and a Teaching Assistant for classes such as Torts, Enterprise Risk, and Employment Law. While a busy law student, he also worked as a law clerk for several State of Florida agencies, giving him a broad exposure to many areas of the law. Rafa joined Martin Pringle in 2025 after clerking with the firm for two summers during law school. He will be practicing civil and commercial litigation, including medical malpractice defense, insurance defense, and products liability, as well as in banking and financial services compliance.
Rafa was recognized as an NAIA All-American, the first from Sterling College's soccer program in over 15 years.
