Meet David Larson

David Larson is a well-respected trial lawyer who has devoted his practice to defending attorneys in professional liability claims, as well as companies of all sizes in products liability and complex commercial litigation matters. Dave has handled hundreds of cases for both plaintiffs and defendants. He has tried more than 75 cases to verdict in courts throughout the United States.

Professional Liability, an emphasis on Legal malpractice

David Larson’s experience in the area of professional liability spans the length of his more than 35-year legal career. He was recruited in 1985 to serve on the founding Board of Directors for The Bar Plan Mutual Insurance Company, a company that was formed through an initiative of the Missouri Bar Association. In 1999, he was elected to chair the Board of Directors. He also served for many years as the chairman of the Claim Committee, where his role was to oversee all claims and to approve the settlement of cases. In 2010, Dave stepped down from the Board of Directors and began representing the insured lawyers on their individual claims. Dave’s knowledge of how claims are managed gives him a keen insight on how best to represent his clients. He represents attorneys in legal malpractice matters, including ethical and disciplinary complaints. He also represents individuals and firms in professional industries including banking, accounting and medicine. 

Products Liability Defense

Dave has tried to verdict more than 25 cases defending companies on product liability claims. He has extensive experience handling claims for a variety of manufacturers in varying industries, including farm equipment, milling operations,  and transmission tower design. Dave has also handled numerous cases involving the design and manufacture of automobile transport trailers, and served as national trial counsel for the manufacturer. In that capacity he served as lead trial counsel in cases filed in Missouri, Illinois, New York, Florida, Ohio, Georgia, and Delaware.

Complex Commercial Litigation

Dave is a highly accomplished trial lawyer with more than 35 years'-experience litigating cases in Kansas and Missouri, as well as throughout the United States. He handles significant complex business disputes. He offers the combination of legal insight, courtroom experience, industry knowledge, and  practical business sense in the representation of his clients.

Insurance Coverage

Dave has successfully handled numerous claims against insurance companies and insurance brokers in multiple jurisdictions. He has represented financial institutions, including credit unions, whose insurance carriers denied coverage for class-action lawsuitsthat threatened the companies' existence. 

Appellate Law

Additionally, Dave has handled numerous appeals to both state and federal appellate courts. He has been on the prevailing side of several precedent-setting decisions.
